Nobody around Lake Conroe wants to find a trailer, a hitch, and a friend with a truck to get a dead cart to a shop, especially when the cart is what gets you to the marina, not just the fairway. Mobile is not a convenience add-on in this market. It is the only version of the service that makes sense for a cart parked at a boat ramp or a cart-barn slab that was never built with a shop visit in mind.

What a mobile visit covers

Will not move. The cart is on, the key is on, the pedal does nothing, or it clicks and does nothing. That is a solenoid, controller, throttle input, motor, or cable problem, and the order we test in is the order that costs you least. Will not charge, or the charger never clicks off. Charger output test, charge-port pin check, receptacle wiring, and then the pack. A charge port is a $100 to $300 fix rather than a $1,200 one. See charger repair.

Weak, slow, sags on the way back from the marina. Per-battery load test and voltage-drop checks along the main cables. Sometimes it is the pack, sometimes it is one bad battery in a young pack, sometimes it is a corroded cable strangling a healthy pack. Squeals, grinds, pulls, or rolls at a stop. Brakes. Adjustment is about $75; shoes and drums $100 to $250; a full overhaul $200 to $400. See brakes and tires.

Cracked or bald tires. $75 to $150 each installed, usually the same visit.

Lights, signals, mirror, reflectors. Texas Transportation Code Section 551.4041 requires headlamps, taillamps, reflectors, a parking brake, and mirrors on a cart operated on an authorized public street, and the City of Montgomery separately asks for a slow-moving-vehicle emblem under 25 mph. The diagnostic, in order

We do the same sequence on every cart, because skipping steps is how people get sold batteries they did not need.

1. Listen and look. The symptom description, the battery date codes, the condition of the terminals and cable ends, the water level in the cells, the charger’s indicator behavior.
2. Pack voltage, then per-battery voltage. A 48V pack resting at 48 volts with one battery at 6 volts and five at 8.4 is a one-battery problem, not a pack problem.
3. Load test each battery. Voltage under load is what the motor actually sees. A battery that reads fine at rest and collapses under load is done.
4. Hydrometer on flooded packs. Specific gravity cell by cell. A cell well below its neighbors is sulfated or shorted.
5. Voltage drop along the main cables under load. A healthy cable drops almost nothing. A corroded one can drop a volt or more, which at cart currents is enormous.
6. Charger output at the plug and at the receptacle.
7. Solenoid, controller, and throttle input if the cart still will not move with a healthy pack behind it.

Heat carts and storm carts

Two local patterns account for a lot of our calls.

The summer sit. Houston-area NOAA normals count roughly 105.2 days a year at 90°F or above. A flooded pack parked at partial charge through that loses water, sulfates, and comes back with less than it had. How the cart was left decides most of it: fully charged, on a maintainer, with the water topped, a pack usually survives.

Before and after heavy rain. Hurricane Harvey in August 2017 dropped 31.22 inches of rain just southwest of Conroe and pushed Lake Conroe to a record pool elevation, with the San Jacinto River Authority releasing water at more than 70,000 cubic feet per second, which worsened downstream flooding in river-adjacent subdivisions. Ahead of forecast weather we prioritize charger and battery calls so carts are fully charged before any power interruption. Afterward, on carts stored low near the water we check for flood exposure before charging anything.

Marina carts, community carts

A cart based at a marina, whether it is Walden’s 536-slip marina or Seven Coves’ 288-slip marina, does short, heavily loaded trips several times a day, hauling coolers, life jackets, and gear, which is a different duty cycle than a cart that only does a golf round. Brakes and tires wear faster, and grit and moisture from the dock area get into connectors that a straight fairway cart never sees. A cart that stays inland, around Magnolia or further from the shoreline, sees the heat and humidity problem without the marina-duty wear, and we service it accordingly.
